I am new to FileMaker Pro and have just created several databases. Now I am trying to write a script to import information from Excel. I have done it manually, but an now trying to write a script to automate the function.
The problem arises when I use the Open File Script to open my Excel file. I receive an error saying that FileMaker did not create this file or the file is damaged. I can open the Excel file manually in FileMaker Pro, just not when using the Open File Script. According to "help". the new database creation was disabled in my installation of FileMaker Pro. Can I enable this function or is there another solution?

I found out that the Open File Script can not open foreign files. The function has been disabled. Apparently, FileMaker is considering re-enabling this function.
Just a little too late for me. I guess I better start with my manual conversion. |

You might try the "import records" script step instead of "open" to get the Excel data into your existing FileMaker file. OR, drag the Excel file to the FileMaker Pro ap's icon, which will convert it to a FileMaker file, and then import from that newly created FileMaker file.
