:?: Hi, I'm a first time filemaker user and I have a question that I am hoping someone can help me solve. I have five users accessing a database and all five users need to access all functions. But, I want each user to see his/her data only when entering their data. Each user has a password to log onto the database from their computer, but as of now they can all see each others data after logging in.

Woud someone know how to restrict other users from viewing all records except their own?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi.

This is pretty easy to do using FileMaker's built in security scheme.

In FileMaker Pro 6, go to the Help menu and select "Contents and Index". Search for "record level access; the first result you get ("Notes about limiting access on a record-by-record basis") will tell you everything you need to know.

In FileMaker 7 there is a little more reading required; open the Help menu and select FileMaker Pro Help; search for "protecting databases". The first article you see, "Protecting databases with accounts and privilege sets," has links to the items you'll want to read.

Enjoy!
