I downloaded the free seedcode calendar to try it out but I am not able to add any events or do anything cuz it says the file cannot be modified. It won't let me add records, it won't let me play with users or anything. Any suggestions?

I imagine that if you can't get in it is because you're trying to open the calendar within the still zipped archive you downloaded. Try quitting FileMaker and then right-clicking on the .zip and selecting "Extract All". Then be sure you're working with the extracted files.
