Running Scheduled Scripts from FileMaker Server 7

I have installed FileMaker Server 7 on an Xserve.
I can't find any documentation on what types of script files I can run from the server. FileMaker does not provide examples in the FileMaker Server Administartor's Guide. I am assuming you can schedule and run AppleScripts but what about Unix shell scripts? I have created a simple AppleScript, (display dialog "hello world!") which displays "hello world!", just as a test. I have placed the AppleScript in /Library/FileMaker Server 7/Data/Scripts folder and have created a new schedule on the server to run it, but I can't get it to run.
