Zulu or SeedCode Subscribe ?

Hey Guys,

Currently running Zulu, to publish read-only calendars by restricting permissions to read only, I've noticed that as I create more and more calendars based on filters, they are taking longer and longer to generate, and then to update when I make a change to a record.

My question is - will I see any significant performance gains moving over to seedcode subscribe ?

Thanks

James

Hi James,

The bottle neck here is FileMaker Server and I'd see Subscribe slowing down at some number of calendars per user also. The difference would be if it's your access privileges that are slowing things down. Subscribe wouldn't need Record Level Access privileges to make things read-only as subscribe is read-only by definition. So if the read-only part of your access priv calc is convoluted you may see a pickup in Subscribe.

Otherwise enough calendars will start to slow both down depending on how many calendars, how many users are hitting those calendars, and your FMS hardware.

Hope that helps,

John
