What does the Blue and Orange Blob indicate?

How can one get rid of it?

Or is that a very bad idea?

There seem to be alot of them on the layouts.

Is it simply an indication that it is a portal button?

You *may* be looking at the sample data FileMaker places in container fields in layout mode. If you want to turn this representation off, select "Show" from the "View" menu in layout mode and turn off "Sample Data".
