Hi John:

I reviewed the doc that explains how to create new templates for letters, including the following:

"If you don’t need merge fields in your letter body, consider making one layout with a global field for its body text so that you can reuse the same letter layout over and over."

My question is, can I create a template that will allow me to enter free text in letter body?

Yours,

Sure Jim; that is what we were suggesting with the global field above. You'd type your free from text into this global field and then use that as the body of your letter.

The only thing you really need to add in this case is a) the global field itself, and b) a layout where you place the global field and let the user type into it before printing the letter. This new layout could be brought up as a mini window (Use our New Mini Window script) during the Print Letter routine, or it could be a tab on the contact's layout that you go to before clicking the print button.

Hope that helps.
