I am wondering why you need to open a new window when you are creating a new event. Is there a reason for that?

Makes it a little easier to compare two events, and if we made it one of the calendar tabs then folks would have to deal with our fancy tab structure...

...any time they wanted to edit the Event Detail layout (which is something most folks do fairly often). It is much easier to work on Event Detail when it is its own layout.
