How do you save a copy with no records? Every time I go to File > Save a copy As... > clone, the data base seems all screwed up.

Hi,
That is because a lot of what we normally think of a "layout" or "interface" is actually data in something like a calendar. So when you make a clone, you're removing tons of interface "data" as well. Accordingly, most sophisticated FileMaker solutions aren't immediately useable after cloning. Fortunately, our calendar has some scripts in place to put most of this information back. Open your clone, enter layout mode and manually make your way to the Admin layout. Enter browse mode and click the small "reset" button in the lower right while you hold the shift key down. This will get you almost all the way there. Next, re-enter layout mode and create a new layout based on the Interface table occurrence. Enter browse mode on this new layout (which you can delete in just a sec) and begin an import. You'll import the contents of the interface table from your uncloned copy of the file. Once you've imported the interface elements back in your can delete this layout and your clone should be all set. Hope that helps, John John Sindelar

Of course, if we were really on the ball we'd run that script for you after you first opened your clone, and begin the import for you as well. Don't know why I never thought of that before; we'll have to include that in the next version.
