Pushing data into the calendar - date field not working

Using Pro Scheduling Edition v 2.61.

We have an event table (external fie) linked to the above version of the calendar.

When the details of the event are ready, we like to push the data into the calendar.

I prepare a script with variables in the event table, call a script in the calendar to 'Set Field' the fields.

For each event I create a new record in the Mini Window Edit Appointment layout and fill in the fields.

This is working fine, except for the date field.
Using the data viewer the right data is set in the fields, only, at record commit, the date value changes in a ? mark.

Absolutely no idea why.

Am I using the right layout for this?

TIA

Hi,

So the "?" means that FileMaker doesn't think what you have in there is a date. Try wrapping what you're sending in GetAsDate() or set a calculated value were the calc uses the date function Date ( MM ; DD ; YYYY )

The other thing I'd say is that usually you'd repoint the calendar AT your events table instead of creating events like this. When repointed, any events created in your table just show up in the calendar.

Now there are good reasons to do what you're doing, but if you're just doing it with scripts because you thought that was then only way, take a look at this:

Finally, I'd say that all this is easier in the new Pro calendar if you're using FileMaker 10 or higher. You can learn more about that here: http://www.seedcode.com/calendar

Hope that helps,

John

Thank you John for your reply.

I will check it out, although I'm sure the original field is a date field...
Maybe there's an identity change in the process...

We create a new event in our events table and then follows a lot of changes, adapt, re-changes until 2 weeks before the start of the event, where no changes are allowed anymore on date level.
That's the point where we 'push' the data in the calendar.

I will look at your link to see if we can work as mentioned.

We're surviving on gifts and donations. We are very happy to have FM 8.5 after using FM6 for years, and can't afford FM 10 or 11, our hardware doesn't fit.

An advantage of being poor is that you have to be creative.
Thanks for your support in giving free versions....
(the Pro version we have now is a welcome gift of an unknown person, can't give credit..)
