One of my problems might be that the files I used where created for version 5.0. Are there new files for version 7.0 and if I upgrade to these files will it affect my data. Please advise.

I assume you are talking about the CC Gantt product in which case you will most certainly be able to import your data when a new version is released, but the files themselves will not be compatable with the new version of the product as files from previous versions of FileMaker Pro are not campatable directly with version 7.
