so if I am in the "Calendar - no side menu" or "Calendar Small" or "Calendar - Small - no side menu" and I click on any of the tabs for day week month or year it always kicks me back to the "Calendar Main" layout. where are these settings stored?

"Smallness" is set in the script "Load Calendar Settings - On Startup --- Edit Configuration Here ---" and you can explicitly declare which layout to use at the beginning of that step.

But in my experience, once you're on one of the no-sidebar layouts, clicking month or week keeps you in the no-sidebar layouts: we're only switching tabs, not layouts.

What may be happening is that you've renamed the calendar layouts: we will switch to the Calendar layout if we think you're not on the calendar when one of these navigation scripts is called. You can see / change this in the script "Go to Calendar Layout"

the $$sc_SolutionWindowName was set to my nav bar title and I know why. all is better. thanks for the fast response!

one more thing. how do I get it to stop asking about Layout Size?

For the size, just edit the script I mentioned above: if you pick a size in the first set variable it won't ask.
