Apparently the URL generated via the Publish script will not work with iCal, because my database name has a space in it.
When I substitute %20 for the space in the URL I can then attempt to create the CalDav account, but I am still having some issue because after I click Continue I get an unending spinning wheel at Configuring CalDAV account.
I do not see any errors in the console at this point.

One other thing. I can subscribe to the calendar using the method described in the publish result page. (Pull down calendar's menu to subscribe. Paste in URL.). The odd thing is that it does not require a password to load this data...
