Maximize Window

How can I best maximize the FileMaker window, running the solution as large as possible?

Go Big

There is a script built into the calendar to enlarge the main calendar screen as large as your display will allow. To enable this, edit the script "Adjust Window" and turn the switch 1=0 into 1=1. Then run the Adjust Window script or the Upon Opening script to see your changes take effect.

Special considerations for Windows Vista and Windows 7

The native "maximize window" command in Vista and Windows 7 doesn't work very well with FileMaker since FileMaker will arbitrarily resize windows if a new window is generated when one is maximized.

And while DayBack generally runs as a single-window solution, there are a couple of additional windows in use: the advanced filters show in a separate window, and you can elect to show any source's events in a mini window instead of an in-app popover (as we do with our To-Do list source).

So rather than actually click "maximize window", use the scripting change mentioned above to get the window as large as possible without incurring the problems of actually using the Windows maximize command.

How Does “New Window” Work With DayBack?

FileMaker Pro allows users to create multiple open windows onto the same file. This is great for comparing two different list views of the same table, for instance. However, the New Window option does not offer calendar users the kind of comparative scenario it might seem to.

While FileMaker’s multiple-windows feature works great when comparing found sets, it is not very useful for comparing two calendars. The reason is that calendars decide which dates to display based upon global variables, not found sets. While FileMaker can maintain a separate found set in each window, it can not really maintain a separate global variable for each window. Accordingly, DayBack will not support two open windows of the calendar.

The best way to compare two different months is to simply toggle between them in the same window using the arrows below the date in the month view’s upper left corner.
