Managing Devices
These are the notes for GoZync 3. Docs for the latest version of GoZync--GoZync 4--can be found here. GoZync 4 is a free upgrade and is highly recommended (hint: it's faster).
How many devices can connect to GoZync?
This is determined by your license and you can see the number of mobile devices allowed on the "Devices" tab of the GoZyncLicense file.
Adding and Deleting Devices
Devices are added to your device count when they connect to push or pull data from your hosted files, or when they connect to download a new version of themselves. If a device connects to push data and it is over the device count, we'll still let the data come up – we always want you to be able to get your data – but we'll throw an error when you attempt to process it. At that point you'll need to delete an existing device in order to get back under your licensed device count.
Fortunately it is easy to delete a device, and you can delete a device at any time. For example, if someone gets a new iPad, you'll delete their old one so you don't have it contributing to your device count.
To delete a device, open GoZyncLicense.fmp12 from your host or FileMaker Server and click the button to log in as an administrator. (The admin password was on that layout, though you've hopefully changed it and/or removed it from the layout.)
Then click "Devices" in the header of the unlocked screen. You'll see the following screen where you can delete any devices you need to. They'll be recreated if they try to connect again.
While this does give you a way around our license, we'd rather make it easy for you to accommodate new devices, knowing that you won't want to do this all the time and will get additional licenses if you need them.

How does Licensing Work?
(See Licensing)
Adding Licenses
Open GoZyncLicense.fmp12 from your host or FileMaker Server and click the button to log in as an administrator. (The default admin password was on that layout, though you've hopefully changed it and/or removed it from the layout.)
Once logged in, click the "Licenses" tab at the top of the screen.
You'll see a green "+" button saying "Enter a license you've purchased". Click that and you'll be able to add a new license.
Each additional license you enter counts toward your total number of licensed devices, so if you only have 10 devices licensed (as shown below)...
...and need a total of 15, you can purchase 5 more by clicking "Purchase Licenses". Once you've purchased your licenses you'll be emailed a license key within a few minutes. License keys also show up in SeedCode's web store as soon as you've completed your purchase, so adding new licenses can be done quickly.
When you've received your license key, click the green plus button saying "Enter a license you've purchased" and fill in the fields provided. You'll need the license key, register-to name, and the order number provided in the email you received to confirm your order.
That's it. You've added a few new devices to your license. You can come back any time and add new licenses.
Also note that new levels of GoZync supersede lower levels. So in the screen shot above we purchased a 10 device license of ProZync, and now have 10 devices available: the device counts from lower level licenses don't roll up. So if you're upgrading to a higher level of GoZync, contact SeedCode so you can get credit for the device licenses already purchased.
