Icons
How are Icons Handled in SeedCode Complete?
Although FileMaker 13 introduced the idea of incorporating icons into themes and styles directly as a fill background as described here in this great article on the Soliant blog. We did not incorporate this technique into SeedCode Complete as we've found it a little unreliable in WebDirect.
Global Containers
SeedCode Complete uses repeating global container fields to store icons. This technique had been around for a while and is still a reliable and fast way to manage icons on layouts, although you do sacrifice the ability to apply different states, like hover, to these images.
SeedCode Complete comes with 49 different icons. These are located on the offscreen area of the Splash layout.
You can change the image for any of these icons just make sure you keep the Object name. Dark line icons for a light background should be prefixed with 1_ and the light line icons for the dark background should be 2_. Once this is done, the Load Icons script must be run for the changes to take effect.
Additional Icons
You can add your own additional icons by adding them to the splash layout following the existing pattern. Make sure they are named and use the 1_ prefix for the icons appearing on a light background and 2_ for the ones appearing on a dark background. You'll also need to add their base name to the list at the top of the Load Icons script. See the top of the below image of the Load Icons script.
Sources for Additional Icons
SeedCode can't provide any additional icons beyond the ones that ship with Complete, but you can license you own icon set from the same source we used (getting access to nearly 8k icons and supporting folks who make cool icons like this). Consider a paid license from http://icons8.com/ to show your support.
For a slightly different look (and a free option) you can take a look at fontawesome. Their cheatsheet offers a couple methods to convert those font characters to pngs (which is what you'll want to use in Complete).
Need even more icons? Check out the noun project. =)
(Note that your license to use the icons in Complete is scoped to that file, so if you want to use these icons in a bunch of your other, non-Complete projects, please purchase a license from the icon creator at http://icons8.com/ to support them.)
Icons By Region
Since the icons are not directly connected to Themes, we've tried to make it as easy as possible to set light or dark icons for the different regions of the layout: Navigation Bar, Sidebar, Edit Pane and Detail. The script Load Icons then determines whether the icons for that region should be dark or light, so you may need to alter this script when changing themes.
