Importing Contacts
How can I import contacts into SeedCode Complete?
One of the things we like about the Separation Model we use in SeedCode Complete is that the Model file where the data lives is a pretty basic file. You can use the built in FileMaker Import Records command to import your data in one of the supported formats. However, there are two scripts in SeedCodeComplete you'll want to run if you've imported Contact and/or Company records:
These scripts create the related contact info and address records for these entities and designate them as the primaries. See more on Contact Info.
And you'll want to run the scripts after you've imported the main contact and company info but *before* you've imported any additional phone, fax, email, or address records for the contact. (And before you import additional addresses for the company.)
Step-by-step walkthrough
Here is a great little walkthrough of how we import new contacts into SeedCode Complete, and how we line contacts up with newly created companies. The video shows when to run the scripts above and how to capture the IDs of newly created contacts back in your import source so you can make additional "update" imports if you don't get the import right on the first try.
